Donington Park Delights!

A fantastic first outing for Lewis at Donington Park on 21st April, with a packed grid of multiclass cars and a big variety of driver skill levels it was always going to be a challenge for him but he excelled!

Putting the car in 5th place for qualifying was a big achievement right from the start, against some healthy competition, so Lewis and Gary were pleased with that.

Gary started the 45 minute endurance race and was soon fighting in the top 3, but the Mazda MX-5s just has the legs on the straights so catching them was going to be a problem. After about 15 minutes a safety car was out after a car ended up in the gravel on the last corner, so this presented the perfect time to switch drivers and let Lewis out.

Pitstop was perfect, low stress, smooth and within the allocated times slots, putting Lewis out in 5th place after all the other changes, but still running behind the safety car.

Once the safety car was in, he was away and pushing to catch the guy in 4th, which he manged to do, and pass him! – running 4th for the rest of the race but keeping pace with the front 3, he kept out of trouble and brought the car home for a fantastic first ever race, 4th place, car in one piece (and Lewis!), with a beaming smile.

Massive thank you to Ed and Nick at EJM Preparation for providing a faultless car and making the whole experience amazing for Lewis, on and off the track.

Now onwards to Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on 19th May, yikes!!!!
